I Work Slow

I take art slow. I work on pieces for a long time. Which is probably why many go unfinished, but is also why the ones I do finish turn out mediocre. (I judge my work pretty hard, and base it off of a scale of all artists, not just artists my age.) So when I finished this piece in 2 days, I was so surprised, because it actually looks pretty good.

I think this has spurred a new series of drawings involving candles… we’ll see.
In the meantime, I won another art contest. I actually forgot about it, so when my art teacher told me I won first place, I honestly had no idea what he was talking about. But then I remembered, we were supposed to redesign the cover of our favorite book. I chose Divergent, (which isn’t my favorite book but I had a good idea for it. This is my favorite book) I wanted to use the symbols for the factions in my design. So I broke out the Prismacolors and started drawing. It turned out pretty sweet.
Please excuse the terrible picture, but I only had time to snap a quick picture before I had to turn it in.
I should have a post up sometime next week about a live model session I’m hosting at my house. I really hope it turns out to be a success, everyone right now is cancelling. If you happen to find yourself in Central Ohio this Saturday, feel free to stop by đŸ˜‰
Happy Sketching!
